A 15-year-old boy strangled his mother, 46-year-old Gail Cleavenger, after an argument over a bad grade, according to Volusia County Sheriff's Office deputies.
Ramos confessed to using a wheelbarrow to move Gail's body into the family van and then drove to River City Church 1.5 miles away where he buried her in a fire pit.
Two 17-year-olds who Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said helped the boy hide the crime were released Sunday into home detention, where they'll wear ankle monitors. The friends, both juveniles, are also in custody and facing multiple criminal charges.
"The case we worked tonight was one of the most disturbing and saddest I've seen in my career", said Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, in a statement.
Chitwood said the boy admitted killing his mother as she was sleeping.
Chelsea vs Crystal Palace, Premier League
Key Stat: Chelsea have scored more goals in the final 15 minutes of Premier League games this season than any other side (10). Towards full-time, Chelsea made it three when Pedro thumped a low from the centre of the box after a low and hard cross.
Chitwood told WKMG Ramos enlisted the help of his friends to bury his mother's body in a fire pit where they had previously gone to drink and do drugs, because the ground was "malleable". "There was nothing at all like that", Chitwood said.
Fox News reported that Cleavenger was furious at the boy, identified as Gregory Ramos, for getting a D in one of his subjects, according to Chitwood.
The boy left to school, and after returning home from school on Friday, he told deputies that his mother had vanished.
Authorities found the door to the house kicked down, the house ransacked and Cleavenger's truck running in the driveway after the teen reported the burglary to police on Friday afternoon.
There are reports that the boy strangled his Mom after a fight about his grades.
Turkey says journalist Jamal Khashoggi strangled in Saudi consulate
It came at the end of a three-day visit by Saud al-Mojeb to Istanbul to hold talks with Fidan and other Turkish officials. Weeks after the fact, Riyadh admitted that the journalist had been killed in the consulate by a team of 15 Saudi agents.
"He used his bare hands, which by his estimate, it took him 30 minutes to kill her", he said.
Friends say his mother was a loving woman whose last post on Facebook was a photo of her son when he was 6.
Ramos went to school the next morning and came home early. "I have a feeling this is a case we'll be hearing about for years to come".
The sheriff continued: 'We brought him out here (Friday) night to reenact the crime scene and you might have thought he was going on national television'.
