While Blizzard has announced mobile games at the event before, Diablo has always been held as one of the company's flagship and core titles. That hope was despite the fact that Blizzard had put out a statement ahead of BlizzCon saying that no major Diablo announcements would be made during the conference.
In another interview with Digital Trends, Allen Adham commented that Blizzard has not forgotten about the core Diablo fans.
