The National Climate Assessment reaches similar conclusions to a recently released report from an global panel of distinguished scientists convened by the United Nations, which predicted that without greatly accelerating the reduction of greenhouse gases there is a strong risk that some of the more dire consequences of climate change could result as early as 2040.
As the report prepared by The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in coordination with 12 other federal agencies, including EPA, The Defense Department and NASA, states, "The impacts of global climate change are already being felt in the United States and are projected to intensify in the future-but the severity of future impacts will depend largely on actions taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the changes that will occur". Trump says, "I don't believe it". "It addresses our country", he said.
Ukrainian president asks Trump to deliver pointed message to Putin
The Trump-Xi meeting would be the first since the two countries began hitting each other with import taxes earlier this year. The rate increase, from 10pc to 25pc, is due to be implemented on Jan 1.
Trump suggested there was little point in the USA addressing its greenhouse gas emissions if "all of these other countries" - including high emitters such as China and Japan - fail to reduce theirs in step.
Mr Trump has long said he distrusts the consensus by almost all the world's respected climate scientists on the link between human activity and rising temperatures.
"Right now, we're at the cleanest we've ever been". And that's very important to me. "If we're clean, but every other place on earth is dirty, that's not so good", Trump said.
China condemns consulate attack, asks Pakistan to ensure citizens' safety
In a statement , Khan called it "part of conspiracy against Pakistan and China's economic and strategic cooperation". After the policemen and civilians were killed, he said, the attackers proceeded towards the gate of the consulate.
The report was issued on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, when many Americans traditionally go shopping, a timing that Trump's critics said was chosen to bury the report.
He has also set in motion the process to withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement on climate change, which is due to be completed in November 2020.
The report, written with the help of more than a dozen U.S. government agencies and departments, said the effects of climate change would harm human health, damage infrastructure, limit water availability, and alter coastlines. However he has since rowed back on that statement saying in a recent interview: "I don't think it's a hoax, I think there's probably a difference".
Trump Roasts Judiciary, Defends Saudis After Televised Thanksgiving Call To Troops
But, Trump said, "whether he did or whether he didn't, he denies it vehemently". He later told reporters that "nobody's done more for the military than me".
If the world fails to act, the researchers warned, there would be some significant and risky changes to our world, including rising sea levels, significant impacts on ocean temperatures and acidity, and the ability to grow crops such as rice, maize and wheat.
