The migrant attack at the border on Thanksgiving weekend might have failed, but the breach of the US border has begun.
Frustrated and exhausted after weeks of uncertainty, numerous migrants have become desperate since getting stuck in squalid camps in the Mexican border city of Tijuana.
Officials said the groups of illegal immigrants are not believed to be associated with the large caravan of mostly Central American migrants that have prompted the military deployment.
The move came a week after hundreds of migrants rushed the U.S. border, prompting U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Border Patrol officers to fire tear gas and smoke grenades at the crowd, which included many women and children.

As the migrants wait, some 1,700 from the caravan have been moved to a stronger shelter in Tijuana, after rains ruined makeshift tents, soaked blankets, soiled personal possessions and turned the sports stadium where they had been camped into a health risk. That rule was struck down last month by a federal judge. Numerous migrants have taken to camping on its flat rooftop.
Migrants such as the families entering illegally could well start a typhus epidemic or bring in chagas disease.
"Since that caravan formed in mid-October, we've seen 90,000 people come to our border, 85 percent of those crossing illegally between ports of entry, and all lured by the fact that our legal framework has huge gaps that create the opportunity to stay in the USA while awaiting your court hearing, even if they don't have a lawful permission or protection claim".
